medical time-out (broken nail)

Bencic on calling the physio: “I think it’s my nail, as always. My toenail, they always crack, and it’s the life of a tennis player. I didn’t want to take a medical [right before the] tiebreak, so you don’t have to see this.”

on illness in 2025:

“I've had a lot of health issues this year after reaching the quarterfinals in Australia. I had a virus right after, and then I was diagnosed with Lyme disease just before Indian Wells. That's why I skipped Indian Wells and the majority of tournaments. I had to show up at some WTA 1000 because of the ranking points system. I was six weeks on antibiotics and just stopped in May. So just now, I start to feel better.”

medical time-out (right hand)

Sierra continued her dream run at Wimbledon by defeating Cristina Bucsa over three sets in two hours. The Argentine required a MTO at 4-1 down in the second set for an injury she caused herself, Sierra hit the strings of her own racquet in frustration and damaged the middle finger on her right hand. Sierra had the finger taped up and struggled with her grip for a few games but eventually got more comfortable. Sierra won the last six games and was rewarded for being the aggressor. Commentary: "Sierra has an inherent aggressive nature to her game and a spectacular forehand when it clicks. The power she can generate on that shot is insane." Sierra 30w 44ue; Bucsa 12w 36ue. Sierra 7/5 1/6 6/1.

on her wrist:

"Since last week, I feel an improvement in my wrist. For the first time in three months! If it doesn't get better, I would have to resort to a more radical solution. But I don't want to. It's really better now, so I'm still hoping. When I get back, I'll have it checked in Prague for an MRI. I'll have some time off now, which will also benefit my wrist. I'll fly somewhere to switch off and gain strength before the concrete. Then I'll prepare for America. Maybe I'll try to play a smaller tournament, if the WTA allows me to play a little bit and have a few more matches."

Marta Kostyuk

Questionable

will play doubles despite illness.

Kostyuk still plans to play doubles with Ruse despite both feeling under the weather. "I plan to play doubles, regardless of how I feel. I know that Gaby [Ruse] is also sick, and we both don't feel very well, but we plan to play. We haven't been able to perform together in the last few tournaments, and I want to go out on the court and try to play since we're already here."

on her psoas tear:

Badosa on her physical condition after a psoas tear: "Physically, I'm much better in that aspect that I was complaining about in Paris, that I wasn't as fast, but slower and all that. Now I think I've made a huge change, just after the day after losing, I went to train and we were having some very good days. I think that was really noticeable in Berlin, because my level and my physique were very high." On dealing with her latest injury: "Obviously, with this small tear I haven't been able to prepare as much, I also have to see how it responds in competition and with all the tension, but aside from that, physically I feel very good and tennis-wise I was feeling very good."

on recovering from a thigh injury:

Krejcikova on recovering from a thigh injury: "I had to take a few days off, without playing tennis, but I did some training off the court. I feel a little bit better every day, and that makes me very happy. I hope that by Tuesday everything will be fine. I hope for a good match and a great tournament."

Emma Raducanu

Questionable

"I wouldn't say it’s 100%..."

Raducanu on her back: "I wouldn't say it’s 100 per cent, but a lot of the time with tennis players nothing is ever 100 per cent. So I’m just taking it as it comes." On facing Mingge Xu: "I think for me it's going to be a challenge, but one that I'm looking forward to and I'm ready for." On her recent form: "I’m proud of the way I’ve competed in some of those three-set matches. Getting to the quarter-finals in Miami and Queen’s, beating players like Emma Navarro, has given me confidence."
