Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I use this?
Enter either side of a betting line to find the price with the vigorish removed.
What odds formats does this support?
American Odds, Decimal Odds, Fractional Odds, and Implied Probability.
I want to convert from probability but it is saying I entered decimal?
Add the % sign to your input to clarify you mean probability.
I want to convert a large decimal number, but it is saying American?
Add a period (.) to the end of your input to clarify you mean decimal.
I use Sporttrade. Can you add them to this tool?
Sporttrade uses a version of implied probability. You can use Sporttrade odds and add a % to the end and it’ll use implied probability.
What vig-removal method are you using?
We use the Additive method of vig removal where both implied probabilities are summed together to create an overround. Then each individual probability is divided by the overround to remove the vig from each side. It is then converted back to the odds format you used.
What other methods of vig removal are there?
There is the Multiplicative Method, the Logarithmic Method, Shin Method, Proportional Method, and then Odds Ratio Method.
Which method of vig removal is best?
For two-way markets, like we have here, that are fairly close to the median, all methods are pretty similar. As you get into multiway markets and markets with very high or low odds, other methods have truer results. We plan to improve this tool in the future to allow users to choose the method of vig-removal they wish to use.
