Comesana overcame a poor first set and returned extremely well in a four-set win over Michelsen. Comesana took an MTO 5*-4 up in the third set due to illness and received medication but didn’t look physically affected after. Michelsen dominated the first set and played with great baseline consistency early, but struggled to maintain his level after the first set. Comesana led by a double break in the second and third sets and withstood a late Michelsen charge in both sets. Michelsen improved on serve in the fourth but couldn’t recover the early break as Comesana’s variety on serve (82% first serve won) and smart shot selection gradually wore the American down.
